As Delhi’s air quality edges toward the ‘severe’ mark, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa cautioned that the city could face adverse weather conditions from Saturday evening due to a western disturbance. In a video message, he further warned of stringent action against polluting industries and violators of the ongoing construction ban.
Citing the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sirsa stated that a western disturbance is likely to impact Delhi on Sunday, potentially aggravating weather conditions and raising pollution levels.
He further stated that authorities had received complaints of construction activity continuing in Delhi despite the Stage-IV GRAP restrictions.

He appealed to builders and residents to halt construction during the restriction period, noting that district administrations have been directed to take firm action against unauthorized work.
Sirsa, in a post on X, stated that despite the enforcement of GRAP Stage-IV, complaints of ongoing construction continue to surface. He warned that those engaged in construction during the adverse weather will face strict action against their buildings, while the concerned JE and XEN will also be held legally accountable.
He further emphasized that no polluting industry in Delhi—whether located in authorized or unauthorized areas—will be permitted to function.
Emphasizing that the Delhi government will begin strict action against polluting industries from Sunday, including sealing them, the minister asserted, “We will not allow any risk to the health of Delhi’s citizens and urge everyone to cooperate in keeping the city’s air clean and safe.”
Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed Delhi’s 24-hour AQI at 398, categorizing the city’s air as very poor, with PM2.5 identified as the dominant pollutant.
Temperatures in Delhi also dipped, with a maximum of 16.9°C and a minimum of 6.1°C on Saturday.
For Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a partly cloudy sky in Delhi, with cold-day conditions likely at certain spots. Dense to very dense fog is also expected in some areas during the morning hours.
