After a video spread widely on social media, police in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, charged a Bajrang Dal activist who was seen abusing officers and threatening to burn down the station.
At Kemri police station on Sunday, Suraj Patel demanded to meet detainee Mohd Suhel. Police, citing lack of permission, refused—prompting Patel’s furious outburst.
Video footage depicts Suraj Patel engaging in a confrontational outburst, using profane language toward police officials, dismissing their refusal as “nautanki,” and challenging them to arrest him while invoking his Bajrang Dal affiliation.
The confrontation escalates as he issues a direct threat: “Jis daroga ya inspector me himmat Hai to mujhe maar kar dikhao, poora thana ko aag laga doonga” (If any sub-inspector or inspector dares to beat me; try, I will set the entire police station on fire).
The video quickly went viral, leading to immediate police intervention. A senior officer described Patel’s conduct as “uncontrolled and indecent.”
In response to the backlash, Patel returned to Kemri police station and issued both a written and video apology, acknowledging his misconduct and pledging not to repeat it. Authorities stated he was formally warned.

Even after Patel’s apology, the case moved forward. Rampur SP Vidhya Sagar Mishra confirmed the filing of an FIR under BNS provisions, while directing the Additional SP to investigate and present a report.
