India roared to a seven-wicket win over New Zealand in Raipur, sealing a 2-0 lead in the T20I series. Chasing 209 looked effortless as Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav lit up the night with brilliant knocks.

India broke Pakistan’s record
India’s chase was record-breaking. They reached 209 in only 15.2 overs, winning with 28 balls left. This made them the fastest team in T20I history to chase a 200+ target, surpassing Pakistan’s 2025 record of chasing 205 with 24 balls to spare in Auckland. India thus became the first side to hunt down a 200+ total with more than four overs remaining.
| Team | Opponent | Target | Balls Remaining | Year |
| India | New Zealand | 209 | 28 | 2026 |
| Pakistan | New Zealand | 205 | 24 | 2025 |
| Australia | West Indies | 215 | 23 | 2025 |
| South Africa | West Indies | 206 | 14 | 2007 |
India breaks a plethora of records
India added more records to their tally during the chase. Despite losing two wickets for just six runs, the Men in Blue went on to complete the pursuit, registering the highest successful run chase after such an early collapse.
History repeated itself! India’s 209-run blitz is their biggest-ever T20I chase, matching the 209 they hunted down against Australia in 2023. It also marks their sixth 200+ chase in the format, the second-highest tally worldwide.

New Zealand fired up early, reaching 208/6. Rachin Ravindra smashed 44 off 26, while Mitchell Santner’s unbeaten 47 off 27 powered them past 200. Despite the onslaught, India’s bowlers held their nerve to keep the chase within reach.
India overcame an early collapse in their 209-run chase, slipping to 6/2 in the second over. Ishan Kishan’s 76 (32), Suryakumar Yadav’s aggressive knock, and Shivam Dube’s 36 (18) guided India to a seven-wicket win with 28 balls left.
