CBFC grants U/A certificate to Prabhas’ The Raja Saab, trims gory and beheading sequences

Prabhas is preparing for the release of his next film, The Raja Saab, a horror-comedy directed by Maruthi, which is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during the Sankranthi festive season on January 9. Ahead of its theatrical debut, the film has undergone scrutiny by the Central Board of Film Certification. According to reports, the CBFC has suggested two significant modifications, following which the film has been awarded a U/A certificate.

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the certification process for The Raja Saab concluded with the CBFC issuing a set of edits to the filmmakers on December 24, 2025. The film was cleared with a UA 16+ rating and a final runtime of 189 minutes, equivalent to 3 hours and 9 minutes.

Among the changes mandated were alterations to two graphic sequences, particularly those featuring blood-soaked visuals. To tone down the impact, one of the scenes—originally lasting 35 seconds—was modified and presented in black-and-white instead of colour.

The second change addressed a scene depicting the beheading of a character, which the certification body found too explicit. As per the CBFC’s instructions, the sequence was reduced in length and reworked into brief visual flashes to lessen its graphic nature, resulting in a cut of four seconds.

In addition to these visual edits, the filmmakers also implemented minor revisions to the film’s audio description (AD) and closed captioning (CC) in compliance with the board’s guidelines.
