BJP leader Manab Deka, on Friday, strongly denounced the vandalism of St. Mary’s English School’s property before Christmas festivities by Bajrang Dal and VHP members, emphasizing that the BJP government will not permit such behavior and has already initiated strict measures against the offenders.
In response to the incident, Deka affirmed that the government has zero tolerance for such activities, confirmed that police have apprehended all offenders, and stressed that the episode was unacceptable.
His remarks were issued in response to the incident involving four Bajrang Dal and Vishva Hindu Parishad members who damaged property at St. Mary’s English School prior to its Christmas celebrations.

Four miscreants taken into police custody
Assam Police stated on Friday that the four individuals affiliated with Bajrang Dal and the Vishva Hindu Parishad, linked to the incident, will be presented before the court.
Assam Police arrest four miscreants — Bhaskar Dey, Jyoti Padgiri, Biju Dutta, and Nayan Talukdar — in connection with the case.
The incident occurred on Wednesday when miscreants intruded into the school premises in Nalbari district, destroying outer decorations, street lights, plant pots, and other belongings, while also setting certain items on fire.
SSP Nalbari Bibekananda Das told ANI that on December 24, members of Bajrang Dal and the VHP vandalized Christmas decorations at St. Mary’s School in Panigaon. He said the police received information later that evening, conducted a preliminary investigation, registered a case, and arrested four key leaders who will be presented in court.
According to SSP Bibekananda Das, an investigation is in progress to trace others linked to the incident, with firm action planned against them for disrupting public order.
According to him, the matter remains under investigation, and authorities will pursue action against additional individuals identified through video evidence.
CM Sarma Assures Peace, Strict Action
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized that the Assam government remains dedicated to preserving peace and communal harmony. Referring to the vandalism at St. Mary’s English School in Panigaon, he confirmed that the culprits have been arrested, praised the prompt response of Assam Police, and assured that further steps will be taken in full compliance with the law to protect institutions and citizens statewide.
Opposition slams politics rooted in hatred
The incident drew strong political reactions, with Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Gaurav Gogoi condemning the vandalism. He alleged that such acts stem from what he termed the “politics of hatred” in the state, urging the people of Assam to stay united and resist provocative actions by vested interests.
