Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty’s Border 2 hits theatres in just two weeks. A spiritual successor to the 1997 classic, the film revisits the 1971 Indo-Pak war. Ahead of release, it has joined Bollywood’s 3-hour-plus club—clocking in at nearly 200 minutes. According to Bollywood Hungama, the runtime stands at about 3 hours 20 minutes, though final adjustments may trim or add a few minutes once the censor certificate is issued.

Border 2 has now joined the ranks of marathon blockbusters like Dhurandhar, Pushpa 2, and Animal, each running beyond three hours. Reports suggest the makers opted for an extended runtime to fully capture the 1971 war narrative and give equal weight to the arcs of Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, and Ahan Shetty. They’ve packed the film with powerful, mass-appeal and patriotic sequences designed to keep audiences engaged and prompt spontaneous claps and whistles.

About Border 2

Set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Border 2 tells the story of young Indian fighters determined to defend their homeland from a looming threat. Featuring Sunny Deol, Sonam Bajwa, Diljit Dosanjh, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, Paramvir Cheema, and Anya Singh in pivotal roles, the film is directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Nidhi Dutta, J. P. Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar. The soundtrack is crafted by Vishal Mishra, Mithoon, Anu Malik, Sachet-Parampara, and Gurmoh. Border 2 is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026.
