Authorities in Bengaluru detained a woman in her late 20s following an alleged assault on a home guard who suggested she wear appropriate attire.

Damini, also known as Mohini, a private company employee from Narayanapura in Mahadevapura, was accused of assaulting home guard Lakshmi Narasamma of the Banasawadi traffic police station. The guard received outpatient treatment at a private hospital for injuries, according to a Times of India report.
Police reported that on Friday evening near KR Puram railway station, several miscreants allegedly made obscene comments regarding Damini’s attire. Home guard Narasamma, who was on traffic duty in the vicinity, intervened and chased them off.
According to a senior police officer quoted by TOI, Narasamma advised Damini to wear appropriate clothing and avoid walking on the road amid heavy traffic. Damini, angered by the comments, allegedly assaulted her.
The attack resulted in facial and nasal injuries to Narasamma. Authorities arrived shortly after and placed Damini under arrest.
Based on Narasamma’s complaint, authorities arrested Damini and produced her before the court, which ordered judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison. According to police, Damini mentioned she had attended school in the Maldives and subsequently obtained a BBM degree from a private college in Bengaluru.
