The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is all set to kick off the application process for one of its largest recruitment drives, aiming to fill 22,000 Group D Level-1 posts across India.
This move comes as a major relief for countless young aspirants who have been dreaming of securing a government job in the railways. The RRB has completed all preparations for this massive hiring, which is expected to be one of the biggest recruitment drives in recent years. This initiative offers 10th pass candidates a golden chance to join the railway workforce and build a stable career.
Under this recruitment drive, the Railway Recruitment Board will hire candidates for positions such as Pointsman, Assistant, and Track Maintainer Grade-IV. In addition, Group D Level-1 vacancies will also be available in technical departments including engineering, electrical, and mechanical divisions.
These roles are crucial for the smooth operation and maintenance of the railways, making them highly significant. According to official information from the RRB, the online application process for Group D Level-1 posts will begin on January 21, and interested candidates can submit their applications until February 20.
What are the required qualifications?
To be eligible for this recruitment, candidates must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board. Moreover, possessing an ITI or NAC certificate can be an added advantage, especially for positions in technical departments. The Railways have emphasized that the minimum educational requirement has been set at 10th pass to ensure that a large number of young aspirants have the opportunity to apply and benefit from this recruitment drive.
What will be the age limit?
For the Railway Group D recruitment, candidates must be at least 18 years old and not exceed 33 years of age. However, age relaxation will be provided for candidates belonging to reserved categories in accordance with government regulations. Specifically, OBC candidates will receive a 3-year relaxation, while SC and ST candidates will be allowed a 5-year extension in the upper age limit.
How much salary will be paid?
Candidates who are selected for Group D Level-1 posts will be offered a basic salary of ₹18,000 under Level-1 as per the 7th Pay Commission. In addition to the basic pay, they will also receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other benefits in accordance with railway rules, making the total remuneration attractive for young aspirants.
How will the selection process work?
The selection process for Group D Level-1 posts begins with a Computer-Based Test (CBT). Candidates who qualify in the CBT will be shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which evaluates their physical fitness. Those who clear the PET will then undergo document verification and a medical examination. Only candidates who successfully pass all these stages will be finally appointed to the posts.
What is the application fee?
For this recruitment, the application fee is set at ₹500 for candidates in the General and OBC categories. Out of this, ₹400 will be refunded to candidates who appear for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). For SC, ST, female, and PwD (Persons with Disabilities) candidates, the application fee is ₹250, ensuring wider participation from all sections.
