A multi-vehicle collision on the highway near Ajnaud village in Doraha, Ludhiana district, caused by poor visibility on Sunday morning, left one person dead and five others injured.
The damage could have been far greater if the LPG cylinders in the truck involved in the pile-up had ignited.

The driver of a car was killed after being hit by another vehicle while trying to retrieve a gas cylinder from beneath his car, according to sources, though full accident details and victim identities are yet to be confirmed
The police, led by Sukhdev Singh, undertook a rescue operation with the support of Sadak Suraksha Force.

The investigation found that the truck transporting gas cylinders had to brake abruptly when the car ahead slowed down. The situation worsened when a cement-laden truck rammed into vehicles in front, triggering further collisions with those behind.

In a separate incident, a Verna car crashed into a private bus near Bharthala village on the Chandigarh-Samrala road. Since the car’s occupants fled before police arrived, it remains unclear whether they sustained injuries. The Samrala police later seized the vehicle after discovering it was carrying a large stock of liquor bottles.

Near Agwar Lopon village in Jagraon, a car carrying three individuals caught fire late at night. The passengers escaped safely after noticing the flames, and the fire brigade was dispatched to control the situation.
