James Cameron’s much-awaited film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has officially hit theatres today, December 19, generating huge excitement among audiences worldwide. The overseas opening of Fire and Ash is projected between ₹20,750 crore and ₹22,825 crore, closely tracking Avatar: The Way of Water, which earned ₹25,730 crore in comparable markets. These estimates highlight strong international interest and indicate that the new installment could achieve a similarly impressive global performance.
Historically, the original Avatar debuted globally with ₹19,256 crore in 2009, while Way of Water launched to ₹36,603 crore. If current projections hold, Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to open somewhere between these two record-breaking predecessors.
The first Avatar earned ₹6,391 crore domestically during its opening and maintained the No. 1 spot for seven consecutive weeks, highlighting the franchise’s enduring box office dominance.
