Labour Minister Kapil Mishra stated that the 50% work-from-home directive aims to reduce daily commuting and vehicular emissions in Delhi, warning that strict action will be taken against non-compliant organisations.

Recognizing the economic strain of the GRAP III restrictions, especially on daily wage laborers, the Delhi government has announced a compensation of ₹10,000 for affected construction workers, aiming to ease financial burdens caused by halted work, as reported by news agency PTI.

Labour Minister Kapil Mishra said that Stage III of GRAP has disrupted earnings for many workers over the past 16 days. To support those affected, the Delhi government will provide ₹10,000 financial assistance to help alleviate their economic hardships.

Employees in essential services, such as hospitals, emergency response teams, fire departments, and pollution control units, are exempt from the work-from-home order. Their dedication ensures public safety and well-being, even amid severe pollution, highlighting their vital role and the challenges they face during these critical days.

Labour Minister Kapil Mishra clarified that workers will continue receiving compensation throughout GRAP IV. These benefits will be provided to those registered with the government, and the registration process is underway, ensuring that affected laborers receive timely support during this challenging period.

Labour Minister Kapil Mishra criticised the Aam Aadmi Party for politicising the pollution crisis, accusing them of staging protests instead of addressing the issue. He highlighted that while the AAP leadership previously avoided taking action during the season, the current government is actively working on the ground. Mishra emphasized that the severe pollution problem has developed over three decades and cannot be solved within just five months, urging focus on practical solutions.

As Delhi struggles with ‘very poor’ air quality, the government has introduced emergency measures to protect residents. AI-enabled cameras are being used to monitor pollution violations, while fuel restrictions are enforced on non-compliant vehicles, reflecting a determined effort to safeguard public health amid worsening environmental conditions.

In addition to work-from-home directives and compensation measures, Delhi authorities have urged schools to limit outdoor activities and encouraged citizens to use public transport sparingly. Efforts also include increasing green cover, controlling dust from construction sites, and promoting awareness campaigns to help residents cope with the persistent hazardous air conditions.
